A children's A to Z of Poetry Children's poetry

A is for Aardvark

Ok. I must stop being lazy and defeated and begin a project. Every day I am going to write, without thinking about it very much, a poem for children. I will make it an alphabet. And it will stop me being sad for at least half an hour.

A is for Aardvark.

Once there was an aardvark

who loved ants.

He really loved ants.

He really,

really,

really,

loved ants.

He loved snaking his long

long

long

long

sticky aardvark tongue out

as

far

as

it

could

go

and licking up ant

after ant

after ant

until he had a whole row of them caught on his tongue

To crunch

and munch

and scrunch

for his

lunch.

So,

if an aardvark ever says he loves you,

really, really, loves you;

Run.
